Here on the farm and at my shop i have run a lot of engines and poured a lot of oil in engines > and found some engines like different oils my old allis loves straight 40 any thing eles pisses out the seals @ the local Canadian tire store they have a house brand cheap with all kinds whammy stuff added i could push that old allis at the govener all day and not add a drop . They had a deal on a name brand oil same price as whammy el cheapo oil so i bought it > had to fill up the sump with another gallon at noon > I think criticism is out of the loop on oils > you have to find a brand that works for your application > back in the hay day on Detroit diesels Gulf lube 30 non detergent was the match and nothing touched shell on cummins products > i do i buy what runs for me , small engines, diesels and gas > Now oil pressure is another story i have master gauges on every thing i own and i check them about every 10 minutes same with the temp THATS were i notice a oils performance > I have seen oils give me 60 pounds at start up and flatten out to 3 pounds when hot > to day while cultivating my garden old bargoon oil was 50 psi cold and held when i put the shovels deep as i could running at 220 dergres O P didnt go below 20 psi . so i think its a trial and error and let the dipstick and the oil pressure be your guide ~ Copey
