The only concern – DO NOT USE OIL THAT GETS RID OF SLUDGE!

The 230 engine filters oil two ways – partial filtering and gravitational force. As most of us know, oil from the pump moves through the oil channels to the filter and to moving parts at the same time. Gravitational filtering occurs when the engine is turn off and suspended particles are pulled down, captured, and held by the sludge layer at the bottom of the pan. Yes – you want that sludge layer! The engine was designed with forming that layer in mind. Without it, you will circulate more damaging particles throughout the engine.

Several months ago, I rebuilt my 230 and used non-detergent oil for the first 100 miles at 25mph, then switched to Mobile 1 Synthetic oil 15-50. Rings have seated just fine, no oil leaks, and no oil use after 500 miles. I have just added my first bottle of STP (I just like it) and I’m good to go many 1,000’s of miles before my next change. I use it my truck and cars and would not use anything else.
