You're already in bed with the beast (Ebay) anyway. PayPal is just Ebay's cousin. Anything else is too risky internationally. How do you know if some piece of fancy looking paper somebody mails you from Latvia or Kyrgistan is worth anything or not? How do you convince your banker that they should exchange it for real money? Who is on the hook for extra bank charges if it turns out to be bogus?
If you don't like to pay the PayPal fees, pad the handling charge for international sales to cover it. Once in a while some foreign buyer asks me how they can pay me without using PayPal. I always tell them "gold coin of reputable mint, received at our offices prior to shipment". So far, nobody has paid me that way.
