The quickestt solution is to rebuild the flathead. But the performance of a V8 or diesel would be superior for the pavement. the diesel conversion will cost 2 to 3 times as much as the flathead rebuild. I am just guessing based one the dollar figures others here on the forum put out there who have doen the Cummins 4bt conversion. some have said 10K at the end of the project. flathead rebuilds have gone up to around 3 K in some areas.
