You need to get the fuel pressure checked at the IP (VP44) Pronto.
Sounds like you are experiencing "dead" pedal.
There is a "Schrader" type fitting on the fuel inlet at the IP,
Any standard fuel pressure test gauge,(kit) will work
I will bet the lift pump is dieing. If not corrected soon the high dollar VP44 Injection pump will die too,if not already.
The electric lift pump is simple to change.
It hangs on the side of the engine above the starter by the fuel filter.
I like the "AirTex brand from Napa or CarQuest. Original equip. was Carter and I'm not a fan of them any more.
