My fenders are quite tall but they're formed channel made from 3/16" checker plate so I wasn't worried if they touched my fenders..I can drive over them :)
It went over top though, but Mike is right...if you're renting the trailer, you should measure it.
Worst case scenario...bring a skillsaw & cut the sides a bit taller..you're scraping the van anyway.
A word of advice...if you want to get way more $$ in scrap...cut the van apart & separate the aluminum. You'll get $1500 worth of aluminum out of a van...$400 if you take it in in one piece.
You can cut the whole van apart in a couple hours.
