Sounds like quit a project. I was reading somewhere that FFPWs were favorites of the old-time house movers since they could really get down and pull.

My grandpa built his house out of 3 small houses he obtained in various places, put up on log skids and dragged them across the farm fields with his donkey engine. He supposedly dragged the main part all the way from Molalla to Dickey Prairie, which means it either fit on the road bridge or he dragged it right through the river. For footings he set them on round river rocks which in turn sat on flat river rocks set in the ground. It was sort of a ball bearing arrangement and my dad said when he was little if the wind blew hard the house would roll back and forth. By my time, the trees had grown up around it enough to keep the wind off.
