they should bring 750-1000 for the set imo. note well that unless i am correct they they are the smaller r&p and are not as strong as the larger pw, late wc 3/4 and ffpw setups which is 9 5/8 vs 8 3/4. also note zentmeyer changes to studs and gaskets to make them fit. in any truck expected to do real work or real offroading, larger diameter, radial tires are a better buy to get road speed. 4.30s are ae 13% improvement over 489s and are a 26% improvement over the stock ring and pinion. they move the powerband out too far for the stock 230 to be effective. the only practical application is a command car, where the truck is light. i have put 489s in every truck i have owned. if i were to do it again, i would go larger michelin radials to improve traction and get road speed. kill two birds with one stone. 489s with a larger motor and larger radials works. 430s with a larger motor = r&p failure. the above is based on my experience and conversations i have had with bob stahl, who knows gearing better than most.
