In case you haven't read, the only thing that's going "public" in the US is the insurance part. Not the hospitals, not the doctors, not the drug companies, not the medical equipment companies, and not the ambulance-chasing lawyer. All of this incomprehensible mishmash of a bill does is change who pays for all those "private" services. It doesn't do a thing to address why all those things cost so much. The only money this could possibly save, under the best of conditions, is the insurance company profits, which is chump change compared to the costs of the actual medical services.
I'm glad you like the Canadian system. You probably like ICBC too. Different countries do things different ways. But this so-called health care bill bears no resemblance to Health Canada.
