A couple suggestions for your thoughts;

A computer is a capital expense that you will live with for many years. You most likely would never buy a expensive item of any kind without holding/looking and maybe test driving. The same should go with a computer purchase. The reason I suggest going to a Apple Inc store rather than a Apple Vendor like Best Buy and others, is the Apple Staff are really there to help 'you' the customer.

I suggest you print out the posts in this thread that indicate restraints, disabilities, and other issues with Mac's. Take these posts with you to the Apple Store. Ask them if these are True or Myth. As them to prove it to you. You will be surprised. I would like .50 cents for each Mac doing serious engineering, design, graphics as well as home use for just one day. Its not a home toy box.

Also, Apple has a wonderful forum on the web. Each product, computer and software has its own forum. There is great help available right on those forums.

Since 2004, My Mac has never hung up, never had the operating system reloaded, no blue screen of death. Turn it on, it just runs.
