I use straps and chains. Everything goes to the axles. I uses a short chain that goes around the axle and at each end there is a shackle. I hook a strap to both shackles and then other end top a D ring on the trailer. I do this at all 4 corners. I then put 2 safety chains on. One front and one back. Again they go to the axles. I loop it over the axle and hook it back on it self. The other end goes to a D ring on the trailer. I use a ratchet binder and tighten until the slack is out of the chain. The suspension is free to float as needed. I have never had anything loosen up or a truck shift when driving.

I have put 8 D rings on my trailer. One at each corner that is angled slightly towards the trailer center. Then I have two each on the front and back of the trailer. These aim straight down the trailer. These are set at either 1/2 or 3/4 of the distance from the side to the center of the trailer.
