Yup...that was really cool & here's the link to the Youtube clip. It would be extremely helpful & I'm sure pattern makers will have those or versions of them in the very near future. Most items would still be cast for our purposes, as opposed to machining out of solid stock but the 3D scanner sure makes patterns easier.
A pattern like the one needed for these tailight brackets today costs around $1000 to have made using resins & reverse molds etc.
Computers certainly have become the way of the future.
If you guys haven't seen this & aren't on dial up....have a watch...it's amazing!
