I've never been satisfied with the First Series tailight brackets available for our trucks. The VPW ones are just flat out the wrong shape & don't fit our trucks properly.
The original LH side proper 45 degree arm...hard to find & the RH side...impossible to find. Steve Fowler & I had some RH brackets cast from an original off one of his fleet but the original had been bent straight at some time & I was worried if I tried to bend it back...I'd have a broken rare RH bracket & an angry Steve F...so I left it alone & had a bunch cast in bronze.
Well...I finally took one of the bronze castings to Rennato the Blacksmith & had him try to bend one back to 45 degrees but as unforgiving as bronze is...it just cracked & broke.
Soooo....we made one from scratch & it's perfect. I decided that after all the effort I could have a run cast in proper ductile iron. The sad news is that they want $100/arm to cast them & that's assuming I cast 20 per side, which banks in enough money for the proper pattern. I told him I couldn't swing it & so he says he'll do a little more figuring & call back if he thinks he can cut a better cash deal but it wasn't going to be significant.
I tried for you boys :(
Here's a picture of my original LH bracket...I removed the rivets holding the lamp bracket & license plate bracket from, as well as the RH bracket Rennato made...you don't want to know what it cost :)
I was kind of hoping they could do them for more like about $50ea.
