I agree that this whole thing with Toyota is getting to be very interesting. The fly by wire system seems to have a "bug" in it. I believe that Toyota has not really found the problem as several "fixed" cars have had a stuck throttle after they were fixed. I would suspect a software "bug" or an electronic interference issue. This is going to be a tough one. It may result in the removal of fly by wire in the future for safety reasons.

Scary thought, most new planes are fly by wire.

It seems only logical that when you touch the brakes that the fly by wire throttle should cut out. It should be designed that the cut out is not controlled by any part of the computer. It should be a simple cut out.

I believe that if you shift into neutral you will not destroy the engine on some cars. They have put in a cut out when it reaches a max RPM. But being computer controlled it could fail also.

If the choice is me or the engine, the engine will loose every time. I will turn that key off or push that start/stop button.
