I took my little Dakota to a shop for lower ball joints/pitman arm replacement and an alignment after I did the rest of the front end. Found one hub assembly going bad. I bought a new one then, and today was the perfect day to replace it. Morning sunshine, temp above freezing, bare concrete and I have the day off. Shoulda known better.
Three came off with the four way. Tough, and I bent the wrench, but they came off. Two more needed the breaker bar/impact socket combo.(Compressor's not hooked up.)One of those cannot be reused, and the last nut is still on the truck rounded smoothe and mocking me as I type.
Normally I loosen and then torque lugnuts (90lbs) after tire changes, but this time I decided to leave it for warmer weather. %$#@!
I'm not sure what to do at this point. I thought about putting the decent nuts back on, and taking it back to the shop for them to deal with, seeing as how they had the gun set to diesel specs. How would I go about getting the last nut loose?
And does anyone use never-sieze on lugnuts? I use it at work for most every bolt I use, but it never occured to to use it home for anything more than spark plugs.
