I looked at the photos again. I do not see any real perches or ties to hold the roadbed on to the supporting structure. The colums appear to be 3 to 4 feet in diameter so the upper support beam is maybe 4 feet across which gives less than 2 feet of perch for each road bed to sit on (4' divided by 2 then allowing for space for expansion joint). There may be a little as 1 foot and no apparent ties. However there seems to be some steel fixtures mounted to the top of the support beam to tie to the roadbed beams. It appears to be a "solid" tie and not one that can take a lot of movement. The steel fixtures seem to be bent in the photos.
