They all drove off the end of the bridge after that section fell down. I could see one or two doing that if they were too close to stop, but 6 of them following each other over the edge like lemmings seems a bit much to me. I think most of them must have been on the bridge when it fell. If your theory is right, then we should be able to look at the aftermath of collapsed bridge all over the world and find that the wrecked cars are either all on their wheels or all on their tops depending on the height of the bridge, and if this one was 30' higher they would have been right-side up again by the time they hit.
