Tony going by the last 3 digits in the casting number, that's a late 60's early 70's M601 engine. I've got one just like it out of the '71 ex-Israeli army M601. Believe some of the 50's Chrysler passenger cars in the states had the same mounting, but use a different oil filter on a stand that bolts on there, where the military ones have a plate with 2 hoses screwed into it going to a full flow spin-on type filter. Sometimes you find the engine number stamped in the top of the pad in the cast area. Have a look on the opposite side to see if it has a rebuild tag riveted on, or a couple holes where it was. Attached picture of one VPW had for sale a couple years ago.
