The valve on the outside of the IP is the
KSB (Cold Start Timing Advance).
It advances the timing during Cold start to control white smoke.
You DO NOT want to run with this disconnected.
It will keep the timing advanced which is not good.

Power from the ign. goes to the run solenoid on the back side of the pump.
Should have two blade connectors on it.
Run a wire from the other blade terminal to the Temp. switch which should be loctaed just behind the fuel filter screwed in the head below the intake plenum.
Take another wire from the switch back to the
KSB Valve.
It kind 'a looks like someone has bypassed the switch and powered the valve directly.
This will work but is not correct.
