Not easily. Going up in voltage is a lot harder than going down. If you know your way around electronics and you can take it apart, it wouldn't be too hard to modify the circuit to work on 6 volts, but it's more than I could explain here. Depending on how it's designed, a 12 volt one could possibly actually work on 6 volts. You definitely won't damage it, so you could give it a try. The simplest electronic tach circuits are fairly voltage-dependent, unfortunately.
