And the bolts being at the top means you couldn't just use the rt cylinder on the right side again. Plus, cylinders at the bottom means any seepage goes straight to the drum/shoes. See, on many vehicles, Cyls at teh top allows for seepage to get caught in a 'pan' that lets the fluid out the back side. Pan catches axle lube too.

But drilling out the four rivets that hold the backing plate on is not that hard. Replace with bolts, like lots of other vehicles use. Keep the rt backing plate on the right side, right side up.

But re; centering, my yard stick shows diffs pretty well aligned with TC shafts. No more than 1/2"?
