Welcome to one more of the oddball changes. If memory serves the 1952 trucks got brown escutcheons.

Black was used a lot in the later years, but there were color changes over time. Some of the escutcheons got painted, (like the 1958 custom cab silver ones used on the regular cab trucks) but most were used in the original plastic.
