There is a feed and grist mill about 12 miles from home that has a large overshot wheel they use to run (via flat belts) a seed cleaner and the burr mill used to make grits and corn meal. They use a large electric motor to run the hammer mill that is used to grind feed, as the water wheel does not have the power to turn the hammer mill. Down in the dusty space underneath the mill they have a very old generator. At times, they have enough power from the water wheel to generate electricity when not needed by the burr mill. They use the electricity to run the lights in the mill and two houses as well. Sometimes they sell power to the utility company and use the light bulb method of synchronization before connecting to the utility lines. Connect when the lamp quits flickering.

Power Wagon content: Years ago, Dad, my brother and I hauled countless loads of corn to this mill with his 1948 B-1-PW Power Wagon to sell or have ground into feed for the beef cattle.
