Differential carrier question

Hello all,
I have an 8&3/4" 4 pinion Differential carrier(Third Member) that has 3 of the 4 case lock pins below the cap. Is it possible to remove the diff. bearing adjuster locks, loosen the diff. bearing cap screws, loosen the adjusters and then remove the cap and screws to get to the pins? If so by marking the bearing adjusters before removing anything, will I have to re-adjust the differential assembly. Thanks for any advice.
