2 lever tranfer case?

Got a 65 W200 Crew Cab w/ 2 lever style transfer case. Would this have been original equiptment for this year? The reason I'm asking is that there seems to have been some altering of the trans hump, ie: sheet metal around levers has been cut, doesn't look factory. Also the tops of the transfer case levers have been cut off?!! I was wondering if this was converted D200 but the VIN# checks out to a W200. Any thoughts?
