I'm not a pro...but I am a proud M-37 owner. They are great trucks. Many parts interchange between the military and the Power Wagon. I think the M-37 parts are more available once you make the appropriate contacts in the surplus market. As for toughness, they just can't be beat. Mine is pretty much all original air force. The sealed 24v electrics can be frustrating untill you get the hang of things. It's all bullet-proof stuff. Once you get them back working good, they tend to stay that way for a good long time.
If you can get both trucks for a good price it would be worth it for the parts to aid in making one good one.
