I do applaude your caring enough to find out a bit about it first though! My former bride-to-be pretended to be interested in old house restoration, so I bought a 1873 Victorian for our pending years together. Not a bad first house, either. It was 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, and about 3200 square feet not counting the usable attic and basement. About 10 months into the project she bailed.
Her loss, sadly, as my house ended up being featured in a book that teaches how to properly restore a Victorian house. It was an example of the correct way to do it!
Point being be patient, flexible, and understanding. But don't let this "new" truck take 100% of his time, either! You may have to remind him of his first love, YOU, from time to time, just not every time.
