I don't claim to b a tire expert. However, the six sheetmetal clips that are found on the back of the M37 rim are supposed to accomplish the same thing, from what I understand. If so, what if they were used on the back of the "combat rim"?

I had heard of this bead lock ring, but until I picked up a Dodge 1 1/2 ton 6x6 manual, I'd never seen a photo of one. It is heavy sheetmetal, and it has hinges so it folds up for insertion into the tire, then expands out into a circle. The manual has a cross section of it.

I suppose they got pitched out fairly quickly. I also suppose that it means just because you use a "combat rim" doesn't mean that your beads are going to stay on it, since there is no bead lock device.
