Dave, I don't know what you're building, but you imply that you are using parts from the different years. And that's fine, because you probably can handle the subtle changes without too much problem.
On the other hand, if there is someone working on their first truck, I was simply pointing out that while many parts do look essencially the same, they may be different enough to give this person fits. That's all.
An example- If he were re-cabbing with a different year, the rear window may be different, the roof line, the door strikes, the ports for the wiring harness through the firewall, the dash board, and the floor all may have changed in design, whereas the two cabs still look very similar. Also, the headlight positions on the different years of core supports changes and may cause problems with swaps if you don't also swap the buckets and the grills.
That's all I was saying. :-)
