Keep in mind that high compression heads could likely result in requiring higher octane and spendier fuel.

About 9.0:1 compression is the limit today for regular. And even 10.5 is really pushing it for premium. The days of Sonoco 260 are long gone, my friends.

The late model heads with the heart shaped chambers are designed to swirl the mixture into the cylinder, resulting in better distribution of the mix, resulting in better burning, cleaner emissions and better mileage. The heads and roller cam are the major diferences between the early and later models.
