It is my understanding that minerals don't tend to stick to Monel. I turned the valve at the bottom of the tank and water flowed right out. I have owned this house for two years and never had a problem with the thing. Too bad they don't make water heaters like that today! Insulated with ASBESTOS too, great stuff!
