everytime you talk abouthat road it sounds treacherous! I never seem to have chains when needed. I have had best luck offroad in the snow by airing all tires down to about 20 PSI. almost as good as having a tracked vehicle! I have done that with old bald bias ply 9.00 x 16s and good treaded 11.00 x 16 michelin XLs result the same either way. excellent traction on steep, snowy , icy logging roads.
