In summary, I need to pull the shifter tower and inspect it- make sure pin is tight and the ball is round? I have heard (VPW) that the "After" series of transmissions aree the most noisy and that the first series transmission will bolt to the 2nd series bell housing but not the NP420. Most of all shift slowly and double clutch. Also the clutch linkange may need to be readjusted (backed off) since I replaced the clutch disk.
