If you don't sand blast them to get rid of all the rust out of the pits you will never see the holes through the rims. My M601 wheels were rusted so I got them blasted - ended up rejecting 3 because they were rusted right through and the edge where the ring goes was so thin on one, it would never be safe to drive on. I've kept them in case I need the centers later on.
