I have a T34 and a few of the direct drive versions, the T35. They are not huge. T3x series IH transmissions(T34/T35/T36) are similar in size to the other light/med duty transmissions. The T34 is like the other light/med duty OD 5-speed transmissions offered in the '60s(Clark 280VO, NP540, Spicer 3053A, etc). It has the different shift pattern whereby 5th gear is where 4th normally is and 4th is where 5th normally is. It also has the typical 3-4 ratio gap. The T35 is a direct drive 5th with 2-5 having very nearly the same ratios as a close ratio Warner T19, with a 7.17 1st. The T36 is a direct drive but with closer ratios than the T35.

IH offered these in the low-end Loadstars and the 3/4 and 1 ton pickup/travelalls.

There are SAE#2 clutch housings for these transmissions, the bellhousings for use with the SV IH engines, and I believe there may be bellhousings for use with the MV IH engines(same block pattern as the 6.9/7.3 IDI diesels). I have a #2 flywheel housing for 6.9/7.3. You can see where I'm headed with those parts, but I also picked up a #2 flywheel housing for the inline 53 series Detroit Diesel, just add an option in there. I would like to have either setup in my M43 eventually.

Ken
