I think the personal word of a stranger telling you "Don't pay me if you do not like what you see," can get you into trouble.
Ebay has the legal right to enforce the sale agreement to satisfy the seller. If you win, then it is an obligation to pay. And if you just spent $20,000.00 on a piece of crap, it's your fault for not checking it out.
