With the destruction of the fitting in the side of the fuel tank, and after cutting the tank open to get it all cleared out, I had a problem getting something to replace it.

I went to NAPA, and all they had close was a transmission drain plug. I figured, sure, lets try it. $15.00. Ordered it yesterday, came today. Got it home.....TOO SMALL FOR THE HOLE in the side of the tank.

So to Lowes I go, to try to find some combination of brass fittings to get what I need. THe guy at Lowes says, nope, nothing with a 1/4 side for the fuel line to be soldered to. He says try Harbor Freight. The look I gave him musta been priceless cuz he said no really, they still carry some stuff we can't due to the lead issues this "wonderful" state of california has.

So to HF I go, and the first thing I see is a 2 piece brass adapter, 1/4" 18npt to 3/8" 18npt, then 3/8" 18npt to 1/4" 18npt. PERFECT. and it fits the hole in the tank PERFECT. And its only 2.50!

Now I just gotta put it in, weld the tank back shut and treat the tank.

No biggie I guess, I was just dumbfounded the part woulda been at Harbor Freight
