I've been away from the computer for a couple of weeks, so this is a delayed response to your post from the last forum.
Your engine was not a factory rebuild but a brand new replacement engine. Back in 1944 the 230 cubic inch replacement engine
was called the Model 230. As they made improvements(different parts but same displacement) they changed the model numbers. In 1947 the 230 cid engine became the Model 231, in 1949 it became the Model 232, etc. This same type of model number system applied to the other displacement engines also.
So by having that type of tag, you can id the displacement of an engine and guestimate when it was replaced.
