The only problem I know of with the mechanical is that if your frame is loose enough, the clutch pedal might bind in the floor in a real bad twist situation. But only if you step on the clutch in the depths of that twist.
One other advantage of the hung pedals is that you don't press against the frame, all pressure is within the cab. You can run the same rubber body mounts on all four corners.
