I'm not happy with my dewalt 18 volt set either. The 14 volt set I had was ok. The batteries just don't stand up to being used the way I use them. The cold in the truck over night seems to kill them. The guy that works for me has the cheap Ryobi set and it seems to out perform my dewalt. The batteries last longer. He pushes his drill way past its limits and goes through about 3 drills a year. He regularly drills a 3 inch hole saw through wood or a 2 inch auger. I haven't ruined a dewalt drill, just the batteries. I am not using the new litium batteries. I hear the cold really takes a toll on them.
