The bummer on the chassis I purchased is that it is just a 2500 which is only 3/4 ton. I would have to purchase another frame from a larger truck to convert to which would be about the same work as installing the Cummins on the 39.

I think either way I go I will need to fab stuff in the engine compartment. The area under the hood will not change with a different frame. The width at the rear of the engine in the 1939 is about the same as the 1995, if not actually wider in the 39.

I am in agreement about the rear axle, I know I want to find a complete axle with brakes and all and not just convert parts. Yeah I am afraid to see the price of the new axle as well and most likley will settle for something else less expensive.

My plan was to use the 95 gas tank, but I had read a few posts from people who used the old one. I was not sure the reasoning except the gauges, so I thought I would ask.

That is a very nice looking truck!
