I've got the old fashion technology - points and my engine starts on the first combustion stroke, don't know how much more you can get than that. You're not running high compression nor are you turning high RPMs, so you don't need more volts to the spark plugs. Points will be available for a long time yet, where as the electronic will fade in time - not the market to keep them interested. If you're concerned about not having the ignition parts available, buy spares now. I keep a spare set of points, condensor, cap, and rotor in my truck. If you don't have flex-stone or a good point file, buy it.

The points last until the points and rubbing block are no more which is a very looooooooooooooong time. I'm 10 years on my new set of points that I put on my truck. They just require servicing now and then - cleaning the arc burn off, adjusting and lubricating the point cam with grease, but not too much grease. If you get too much grease built up where it makes a connection between the cam and point arm, you rapidly burn the points.

I don't know if there is an advantage of using electronic other than no maintenance, but then if a module fails, and you don't have a spare, your SOL, unless you carry the old dist.
