on older school buss they had daul braking two set of wheel cylinders on each wheel so you had all the front shoes on one circuit and the rear shoes on another circuit > idea being if one circuit falied you had four wheel braking even if only half the system worked > after the fred flinstone stuff ran out you had old E brake which if your lucky pulled it hard would stop Mr driveshaft (really) in turn locking up the rear wheels yee haww > a savvy driver would aplly the "STICK" slowly to apply rear brakes so you would not turn the driveshaft in to licorice or worse breaking it cleanly and now you are free wheeling with a thump thump thump > The newer coffins have disc front drum rear and the E brake is mounted on the differential a much stronger system > as for the yellow coffins even though they travel many thousand miles when the go the go big in my opinion next to kenny rogers it the most dangerous and unsafe vehilce on the road saying that after 30 years of putting my farm rats on the coffin sayng a prayer when the get there and kiss the ground when it arrives home > the shaft goes up generally seen many bend on the ground tubing isal they be ~ Copey
