mike - good input about vpw. it provides multiple sources for a guy to use.

i received bad brake cylinders and some other misc unusable parts from vintage many years ago. the wheel cylinders appeared to be imported and of inferior quality. they leaked from new and the machinist i showed them to confirmed that they were crap. the brake fluid ruined freshly painted backing plates and caused me a lot of grief. i had apple hydraulics sleeve my origs and never looked back. since then i have gone to helitool discs, but i digress.... yes, they were properly installed and checked before assembly. i have the manual and access to heavy truck brake and spring guys to check my work if there is a need. if you have had good parts and service from VPW, that is a good thing and I'm glad to hear it. I like those guys there but prefer the quality and service i get at Midwest. john wouldn't sell you anything he wouldn't put in his own trucks. his trucks are show winners. i recently sent him some slope top master cylinders that will doubtless be sleeved professionally and give good service.

rock auto has almost every bearing and seal for your trucks. good quality, fresh production and better prices. with midwest, a good local napa, dave cirillo and rock auto you can rebuild the driveline on your ffpw / wc with ease. i don't buy into using old military seals. i believe that good quality seals with properly machined or sleeved yokes are the way to go. charles talbert makes some conversion rings to install modern seals to eliminate leaky third members

you might ask if i have an interest in promoting midwest- i do and it is a selfish one. I figure if i tell everyone here about him, his business will grow and he will be around when i need him. i also believe if we get enough guys buying ffpw stuff from him he will expand his parts repro biz to include ffpws. he does some truly amazing stuff in his shop.
