Geez I figured you were an old guy like me, I was 18 in 1978. Yep, 1996, lots of snow here too in CT. Actually have a bad memory of that storm. Clearing snow with a tractor, parked it at the end of the driveway while I shoveled some, an oil truck comes down the hill towards me, I'm watching him to see if he has room for the tractor, and behind me my 6 yr old comes sliding off the snow bank. The oil truck locks the brakes and slides on the snow to a stop while my son stops under the bumper and at the last moment pulls his hand out from the path of the left wheel as it slides the last few inches. The driver, me and my son are all just about in tears. He wasn't touched by the truck, but the situation put the fear of god into me and to this day it bothers me. My wife was out of town on business, comes back 3 days later and I told her then. No way could I tell her while she was away, she wouldn't be right until she saw him uninjured in person. The owner of the oil company called the next day to see if we were ok. I appreciated that. He's 19 now, rides dirt bikes like a nut and can do inverted flips on skis. The bike I don't mind, I'm not so sure about ski jump flips. He drives the M37 too. Tough way to learn a lesson about what to keep your eyes on, and wonder how we could be so fortunate that day.
