Will - I think the problem with the concept of hub fuses is that any steering joint (u-joint, tracta, etc) will be weaker the more the wheel is turned. I believe a CV joint typically loses less strength with steering angle then a single U-joint. Because of this a hub would have to be either much weaker than the axle shaft or you will run the risk of breaking the shaft. I believe you might remember when I had the superwinch hubs I broke 4 of them, two in one day at flat nasty. I bought the selectros and I broke a front shaft at flat nasty. My broken axle shaft you can tell by the break that my wheels were turned when is let go. Unfortunatly in my case sawing the wheel will sometimes get you moving is loose terrain, mine just caught when the wheels were turned and pop. I think if the wheels were straight the hub would have failed first.

One problem I see with M37 front axles and feel free to disagree with me is that the bushings that the axle rides on at the tracta seem to wear rather quickly. I am planning to switch mine to bearings when I upgrade the axle shafts. I think this will be possible for me because the birfield joint I am planning will not create thrust loading like the tracta does therefore I wont need the thrust face that the bushing has.
I believe the b
