the thing you mentioned with the sub-standard winch parts gives one pause, I've seen 1" cables break, scary as hell, the energy a cable can store is unreal!! extremely dangerus. I sure wouldn't want a snatch block or hook or anything coming back at me being trapped in the cab of my truck, Whew!! Dave.
