I don't know about the rest of that stuff, but most of the lead that ended up in the Germans and the Japs 60 years ago, and most of the lead that ended up in the batteries of the WCs and the batteries and ballast of the submarines back then, came from under this valley. If that's not healthy, what is? Uncle Bunker ran with the throttle wide open for whole duration of the war and Uncle Sam took everything Bunker could produce. Back then lead was so valuable that people had to turn their empty toothpaste tubes in before they could get a new one. I have friends whose water supply is pipe stuck into the tunnel of an abandoned lead mine and it hasn't hurt them a bit. My grandpa had lead soldiers to play with when he was a boy. He was smart enough not to eat them. He lived to be 83. My neighbor in Everett sprayed lead arsenate on his apple trees every year to kill the bugs. He lived to be 80. My dad taught me to pinch the sinkers on the fishing like by biting them. It never poisoned me. Lead is good. Everybody should have more lead. Want today's kids to be healthier? Take away their video games and cell phones and tell them to go play in the woods until suppertime. It ain't the lead that's making them fat and pasty and lazy.
