I guess it just depends on where you are. We have at least 6 dealers carrying Stihl within a 20 mile area. 3 of them have a VERY nice selection and 2 even have the MS 880 in stock. Those 2 dealers are within 6 miles so I don't think they have territories. It think it is a price cap thing. About the same amount of dealers for Husky and Lowes, Home Depot and TSC handle them as well. We're not a logging area but just lucky.

They are not made at the same factory. They are totally different.

Odd with your experience with the old Homelites, I've had just the opposite. My grandfather was a Homelite dealer in the 50's and 60's. The new ones are okay, they just don't last long before the jugs and carbs wore out from my experience.

Just like all equipment, Even if you use great care and maintenance, the hardest thing on them is the sitting for extended periods with gas in them. They all can develope quirks with that. Kevin
