An old mechanic told me years ago that a cracked exhaust manifold or deteriorated gasket could possibly allow enough cold air to enter the exhaust valve chamber and warp a valve. This, he thought, could occur after the engine was shut down. Maybe this isn't true. Anyone else heard this? JH
